PACKAGE This is a very lose term used to described the collection of pieces of equipment usually mounted on a base frame with the associated pipe work, instrumentation and capable of testing as a complete functioning unit.  The attraction of this is that the more specialised work usually associated with packages can be undertaken at a suitable site location where the expertise is available and not in a site location which may not be suitable for these sorts of activities.  Terms used for this subject of Packages: - include PAU Pre Assembled Unit, PAR Pre Assembled Rack (Pipe Rack), Dressed Columns/Vessels vessel with internals, platforms, ladders and instrumentation attached. All of the may have extra steel attachments as transportation frames, sea fastening, support frames, skids etc.  The terminology used and the scope of meaning varies from Project to Project. A Skid Package in one Project may be referred to as a PAU in another.  An extension of the definition may be used in contractual terms where a group of supply is refereed to as a package e.g. the supply of all umbilical’s for a sub sea development or supply under the terms of a frame agreement. Lastly a term for a large Package is often referred to as a Module, it usually is aprocess Plant Area in its own right.
